Review this restaurant

Proprietor: Jerry and Kate English

Head Chef: Daren Back

Located at the head of a long valley running down to the River Teign, Combeinteignhead is the quintessential English village with an ancient church and the Wild Goose Hostelry standing side by side. Voted runners up for Devon's "village pub of the year" for 2006 this family owned and run free house has a very keen local following for the great real ale and good honest pub food.

Further Details

The Wild Goose started life as a homestead of a small farm known as Holman\'s. This is probably the reason why it was called the Country House Inn when it became a pub in 1840. The name was changed to the Wild Goose Inn in the 1960\'s when a local farmers geese would attack the customers as they came and went. Although there are no geese to chase the customers around these days, there are certainly one or two fine pints of real ale to enjoy from some of the best west country brewers.
