A glass of crisp white and 12 oysters in the bar, a seat outside in the warmth of the sun and a bowl of local mussels or perhaps the roasted shellfish platter and a cosy intimate dinner. The 14th century Rising Sun is a foodie treat. Rustic simple, food and a pub that offers character, history and personality with a cracking team of staff happy to please. Blessed with sea views it seems the Rising Sun is hard to beat.Rooms in keeping with there surroundings make for a great base from which to explore North Devon and Exmoor are also available.

Further Details

The Food

The excellence of the famous restaurant is well known. Head Chef Oliver Wood and his brigade continue this long tradition with a blend of quality local produce with a European Twist. Lynmouth Bay Lobster landed at the door, Local Exmoor Game and Salmon fished from the river Lyn, served in the romantic candlelit oak-panelled dining room all add to the atmosphere of English Inn keeping at its best. Passionate about the very highest quality local produce and freshly prepared ingredients nearly everything on the menu has been made on the premises.

Accommodation

All of the rooms are comfortably appointed and possess a charm and individuality seldom found in modern hotels. Fabrics and furniture add to the olde worlde charm of a 14th century inn, while features such as TV's, telephones with data ports, hairdryers and kettles provide the modern comforts.

Many of the bedrooms have half-tester beds and were refurbished by international designer Suzanne Lansdell of "Pour La Maison" in London, combining the latest design fabrics with traditional elegance within a 14th century ambience, assuring guests of an unforgettable romantic experience.
