Visiting this old sporting inn is a complete delight and the scenic drive from Barnstaple to Umberleigh through the beautiful Taw Valley is well worth the trip. The Rising Sun does not disappoint either. The bar is cosy, warm and inviting with tables tucked here and there. Lunch may feature Posh Bangers and Mash or Home Cured and Local Ham, Egg and Chips while dinner served from 6pm daily serves locally landed fish or perhaps the Slow Roasted Prime Devonshire Pork on a Creamy Onion Mash. Local honest traditional food to enjoy in the heart of North Devon. Perfect! Bed and breakfast rooms are also available at The Rising Sun from which to venture forth into the unspoilt Devon Countryside.
