Hidden Gems in Devon

Our Hidden Gems section is going to be just that. Destinations that may serve the finest food but are a little hard to find. Places that have the very best views and are a pleasure to visit because of them. Unusual, Quirky places that you would recommend to a friend every time because they made you smile.

We are going to make sure we maintain the quality of the listings in this section and that they indeed come highly recommended themselves. We would love to know who you think might make it onto our list so please let us know and we will be sure to take a look!

Lewtrenchard Manor Hotel

The restaurant at Lewtrenchard has a reputation for producing some of the best food in the South West. The Food is always meticulously prepared and beautifully presented by a team of chefs headed by Matthew Peryer. The quality of the cuisine attracts many non-resident diners to the restaurant and the atmosphere is cheerful and relaxed, with a lively buzz of conversation. This is partly due to the friendliness of the chef and staff, but the excellence and diversity of the cellar, which feature modestly priced bottles from every wine producing region in the world. Top Notch....

The Old Inn at Widecombe

This characterful pub can be found in the middle of the Dartmoor. The drive from Bovey Tracey or Ashburton enjoys some of the most breathtaking countryside in the region. The Inn itself doesn't dissapoint either. A hearty welcome awaits as does a traditional country pub, one of the finest examples in all of Devon. Locally sourced food, well kept ales, dog and family friendly and exactly what we have come to expect from our country pubs. I am told the traditional Hot Pot is not to be missed!!
