CommentsIf you dream of eating great food that reminds you of sunnier places, how do Roasted feta with peppers, dates and black cardamom or Cappuccino crème brûlée, cinnamon and star anise milk and spiced doughnuts sound to you? Giorgio Kostas of The Old Bakery in Kingsbridge is a chef on a mission. They offer a fine dining menu on special nights like Valentine’s Day and throughout the summer months. With dishes like Hand dived scallops, fried quails eggs, puy lentils and pickled pears, Roasted wood pigeon, coffee and date purée with almonds and a Dark chocolate and walnut tart with beetroot ice cream, it’s easy to see why people are raving about it.

CommentsStumbled across The Old Bakery for lunch during a week away in Devon. Had some excellent Tapas including Cornish sardines. Very friendly and helpful service with a relaxed atmosphere in a lovely building. Could easily forget you are not in the Med. Definitely recommended and hope to be back.

CommentsGiorgio's resturant gets better every time we visit both the Tapas menu and Fine Dining. Living in Sussex we recently had a wonderful meal at our local Michelin Star restaurant. The Old Bakery is equivalent if not better. Giorgio has such a passion for his food and ingredients that only the best gets used. This restaurant deserves all the accolades it is given.

CommentsWe found details of this quaint restaurant on the internet and decided to give it a visit on our recent holiday. It was a wonderful evening, the restaurant was rustic and authentic, the food was creative and delicious and the atmosphere was just perfect - a real find which ticked all our boxes! It was our first time eating tapas style and we would encourage everyone to go - just a shame that we don't live nearer!

CommentsWhat a find. Not a vegetarian restaurant but gave Giorgo a challenge for one of the party. Came up with the most wonderful asparagus wrapped in what looked like shredded wheat but tasted wonderful. The ravioli of sweet potato with sage herb sauce was divine. The non veggie had crab with cucumber jelly - outstanding. Puds of Moroccan orange cake and coffee brulee were best ever. Can't wait to go back. Feel we should keep this a secret in case we can't get a table but that wouldn't help them in the long run. Staff and ambience complimented the great cooking. Wish they were round the corner from me.

CommentsWhile visiting Kingsbridge and looking for somewhere different to relax and have a cup of coffee we came upon the Old Bakery. On entering we were warmly welcomed and invited to decide which of the sitting & eating areas we wanted to use which range from a simple country kitchen style to soft comfortable sofas. We chose the kitchen style and relaxed, read our papers and engaged in a wide range of conversarions with the staff. We came back the following day and this time took advantage of their wide and interesting lunch menu which offered varied and tasty food. The "hidden gems" of the Old Bakery is the very interesting use that has been made of old copper pipe fittings, cooking oil tins and the like as water cisterns, washbowl taps etc that all work perfectly. The whole decor is slightly "off the wall" but matches the enthusiastic style of the staff, food and good conversation in a very laid back and relaxing atmosphere. Forget your Costa Coffees and Planet Pizzas and visted the Old Bakery - you will not be disappointed! Jim & Maggie, north of Bristol.

CommentsThis has got to be one of our favourite restaurants. The food is exquisite: tapas with a Greek twist, fresh, locally sourced, and absolutely delicious. Giorgio and his wife are delightful. Their attention to detail and fun, passionate approach makes this an incredibly enjoyable experience. The last time we ate here we met the farmer who supplies their Gloucester Old Spot pigs, from which they make their own chorizo, sausages and wonderful pork chops. A place where locally sourced actually means something. We struggle to find anywhere like this in London.

CommentsI live in Southampton and visit Kingsbridge on a regular basis and discovered The Old Bakery for the first time this year. What an absolute joy! The food was exquisite & the atmosphere delightful. The staff are extremely helpful and service flawless. Georgio & Juliet have created a wonderful dining experience. I will certainly be visiting again on my return to Kingsbridge. I would recommend The Old Bakery wholeheartedly.

CommentsWe visited The Old Bakery last month - the restarant is beautiful - light and airy yet cosy at the same time. The service was wonderful and the food was truely superb. Our collection of tasty starters were fantastic - the paella to follow was wonderful. Couldn't fault it. Can't wait to go back and see what the talented Juliet and Georgio have come up with next.

CommentsA really delightful restaurant, with helpful staff and charming owners located in the heart of this lovely Devon town. On offer is a (thankfully) brief menu offering delicious and inspired modern cuisine cooked and presented to perfection. The Old Bakery could be the (new) New Angel. Highly recommended - will definitely revisit again soon.

CommentsThis restaurant is, in a word, superb! When we discovered Pig Finca (previously on the site) had gone we were very disappointed as we spend every half term in Devon and it was our favourite place to eat. However, after several breakfasts, lunches and a dinner there our disappointment vanished. The staff are friendly, the food is faultless, the menu ambitious and it is so nice to meet a chef so passionate about the food he cooks and prepares. Oh, and the Brownies are heavenly: not just the best in Devon but the best ever!
